Vernis is patent leather. Epi is treated leather and vachetta is untreated cowhide leather. What bregitta said - you're paying for a product from a luxury brand steeped in history! Yes the booklet does say that the embossing will soften, and it does! The leather gets slouchy and soft as well which is why we love empreinte leather. But the embossing should't disappear into nothing lol. The only reason why I'm complaining is I see other's with empreinte bags that are older than mine and their embossing is nice and crisp. Hi, I've used Obenaufs Heavy Duty a lot on my LV vachetta leather (Artsy handle is vachetta) and it's great for keeping the leather moisturized for a long time. It's not the best for preventing water spots on new vachetta though. I would recommend a spray, for example Collonil sold in Mulberry stores. Also see the many threads in the LV FAQ .1,172. 0. The hang tags are a dead giveaway of a fake. LV does not sell their bags with hang tags with the LV in plastic. They no doubt did this because not only is coated metal cheaper but it's also lighter in weight; if you look at some older items from around the late 90's/early 00's you'll see that they do have brass and that it gets a green crust as it oxidizes (probably another reason LV switched).
