Sometimes carefully resetting the chronograph can minimize this problem from occurring, until you decide to have the watch serviced. Another work around is to simply press the reset button before activating the chronograph function.
The issue is that the chronograph hour hand (the subdial near 6 o'clock) is always running, even when the chronograph is not activated. So the chrono seconds hand is reset, the chrono minutes hand is reset, but the chrono hour hand keeps recording time.
I've had my speedmaster for about a month and just noticed the hour register is slightly misaligned. It points just to the right of 0 when the chronograph is reset.
